Being a female leader in cybersecurity requires the ability to make informed decisions under conditions of heightened and often overlapping uncertainty. It also involves taking an active role in shaping influence — raising awareness of the importance of women’s representation in senior and decision-making cybersecurity structures.
Effective leadership in cyber security demands emotional intelligence, resilience, and the readiness to challenge persistent gender stereotypes. At the same time, it requires openness to continuous learning, mentorship, and self-reflection. Personal and professional development for women in cybersecurity is not a fixed outcome, but an ongoing process — one that evolves through experience, dialogue, and mutual inspiration.

As a Trainer, I had the opportunity to contribute to the leadership development journey of a highly engaged and motivated group of young women (27th-28th November, 2025). Working with this group reaffirmed that communication remains one of the most critical leadership competencies. Creating environments where leaders feel comfortable acknowledging uncertainty, asking for support, and actively listening is essential for building trust, effectiveness, and long-term impact.
Equally important to this experience was the opportunity for professional growth through collaboration with fellow trainers. Continuous learning, peer exchange, and exposure to diverse leadership perspectives remain fundamental to strengthening capacity within the cybersecurity community.
This leadership development initiative was implemented within the framework of the CybHER project, supported by the UK Embassy Skopje and implemented by the British Council. The project contributes to strengthening leadership skills, confidence, and visibility of women in cybersecurity while fostering inclusive and resilient cyber ecosystems.
Advancing a safer cyber environment requires sustained collaboration, leadership, and commitment. Through initiatives such as CybHER, the development of women leaders in cybersecurity continues to be supported, strengthened, and advanced.
